The Trend
First, let’s start with the colors that will define spring fashion trends this year. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I LOVE a bold pop of color! Cobalt is a color that will be everywhere this spring. This bold blue color was all over the runway in Paris, New York, London, and Milan. Another bold choice is chartreuse. This bright color falls somewhere between green and yellow. Think softball! Sunset Ombré is a fun and trendy color option for spring too! It’s a great way to welcome warmer weather as we transition away from the cold grey winter.
If bold colors aren’t your style, no worries! Last year, fuchsia stole the show, but it looks like this year, a lighter, more demure shade of pink will be taking over. Whether you call it baby pink, candyfloss pink, or some other variation, you can bet you’ll be seeing it this spring. Finally, it appears that fashion designers have been watching Netflix’s Wednesday because all black everything is going to have a moment this spring! While darker color are usually more popular in colder seasons, black is certainly a classic look.
How To Rock It
Embracing seasonal colors is probably one of the easiest ways to put together a trendy look. You probably already have a lot of options in your closet! If bright, bold outfits aren’t your thing, try tying in a cobalt accessory or a low-key chartreuse pair of shoes! Sunset Ombré is probably easiest found in dresses. I love this dress from Amazon and this dress from Chic Wish. Baby pink and black are both neutrals, so you can easily make them work for the office or a fun night out!
Sheer Fabrics
The Trend
Barely-there styles are such a trendy take on spring fashion trends! Sheer fabrics are the perfect way to shed the heavy winter knits without getting too far into bare-it-all summer looks. They also play up any intricate detailing on a piece. Nensi Dojaka owned this upcoming trend in London’s Fashion Week. This spring plenty of fashionistas will be reaching for sheer-sleeved tops and adding sheer layers over pieces that might otherwise prove to be too risqué!
How To Rock It
Sheer styles are incredibly versatile! This blouse from The Mint Julep is a great way to embrace the sheer trend while still being office-appropriate! Kimonos are a great way to add a barely-there layer to your look! This cover-up from Pink Lily would be a fun option to layer over a tank and jeans for weekend activities. If you’re looking for something more formal, dresses with sheer detailing are also a hit!
Crochet and Lace Detailing
The Trend
Mixing up your fabrics and textures is going to be a big trend this spring. Another barely-there fashion trend is crochet and lace detailing. Lighter spring knits are the perfect choice for spring days where winter isn’t quite ready to quit. Lace apliques can pair exceptionally well on top of sheer fabrics. Crochet and lace is also a great way to “lighten” an outfit embracing the all-black-everything trend!
How To Rock It
Crochet and lace add so much dimension and texture to a look! You can embrace these spring fashion trends by sporting a fully crocheted tank or opt for something with more subtle details. Cardigans with crochet details are a great choice for layering in a chilly office. I personally think this sweater paired with a bold colored lace bralette would be a super cute look! Tops with lace details are great for both work and nights out! Lace shorts are a fun take on the lace trend too! You also can’t go wrong with a classic lace dress.
Florals
The Trend
Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking. This trend may not be something new for spring, but there’s a reason florals are a classic spring pattern! Warmer weather brings everyone outside, and who doesn’t love to enjoy fresh blooms!? There are so many ways to incorporate florals into your look, and they’ll always be a classic spring staple!
How To Rock It
There are so many options to liven up your look with florals! You could rock a casual tee with a single bloom, add a fun pin to your blazer lapel, or go all out with a full-floral print dress! 3D floral apliques are another fun way to add some dimension to your look (and incorporate other fun spring trends at the same time)!
Wide-Leg Pants
The Trend
Wide-leg pants are becoming not only one of the bigger spring fashion trends, but a year-round trend as well. While you may still be clinging to your skinny jeans (not shade, I’m right there with ya!), this season is a great time to branch out from your favorite figure-hugging styles. Wide-leg pants look great on so many different body shapes, and they can really transform a look! If you want to make your legs look longer, your waist look smaller, and to really play up your curves, wide-leg pants are your friend!
How To Rock It
Due to the increase in popularity of different cuts of pants, wide-leg styles are a super easy spring fashion trend to find! Maurice’s has a great selection of jeans if you’re looking to venture out, AND they have a phenomenal program that allows you to return your jeans for up to a year (even if you’ve worn them and took off the tags)! Spanx is one of my favorite places for work pants, jeans, or any other options for my lower half. Their On-The-Go Wide Leg Pant is a great option for the office! Any high-waisted option will highlight your waist. You can also pair a wide-leg pant with heeled shoes for added heigh, and your legs will look instantly longer! I personally pair wide-leg pants with a more fitted top to balance out the look, but you can certainly play around with how you want to style your pants!
Maxi Skirts
The Trend
Passing on pants altogether? No problem! Maxi skirts are a major spring fashion trend for this year! They’re just as comfortable as a wide-leg pant, but with more flow! They have all the benefits of a wide-leg look, but they can make a look more feminine. And as an added bonus, no need to worry about shaving!
How To Rock It
My all-time favorite maxi skirt is this teal one from Chic Wish. It was the best choice for taking beach pictures on my honeymoon! I also think this floral patterned skirt is perfect for spring! Honestly though, all of their chiffon maxi skirts are to die for! They have so many fun colors and patterns, and they flow beautifully! You can dress them up with a pair of heels or dress them down with sandals. I like to pair my maxis with either a simple fitted tee in a solid color or a feminine lace number.
Sequins
The Trend
Another spring fashion trend is sequins! This trend adds a little (or a lot) of sparkle to any outfit. Sequins may be a staple for an NYE look, but they’re taking over spring too! Designers have been adding adornments primarily to softer colors to keep with the traditionally more muted spring tones, but they can absolutely be found on louder colors too!
How To Rock It
Kate Spade told us to leave a little sparkle wherever we go, and this spring is the time to do it! The great thing about sequins traditionally being a winter trend is that you’ll easily find sequined looks on sale! This black sequin tank could easily be paired under a blazer or cardigan for an office-appropriate look that still turns heads! These sequin leggings would be a great choice for a night out. You can either go for a fully blinged-out look (like this dress) or you can opt for one shiny focal piece. Either way, you’re sure to command the attention of the room!
Leather
The Trend
If you’re looking for more of a sheen than a full-blown shimmer, leather is the spring fashion trend for you! While typically a material used for jackets (or seats in a car), leather has been popping up in pants, skirts, and tops! This material gives your outfit an edgy look for an instant cool-girl vibe.
How To Rock It
You can take just about any piece of clothing and make it out of leather. One of my personal favorites are a pair of leather leggings. Spanx and Commando both have great options for faux leather leggings and faux patent leather leggings. I own a pair from each brand, and in my opinion, the Spanx leggings give a sportier look while the Commando ones look a little more polished. Another great leather option is a skirt. They give a feminine twist to an edgy look. Then there’s always a classic leather jacket. Leather clothing tends to take center stage, so if you want a more low-key leather look, leather accessories like bags and shoes are a great choice!
Balletcore
The Trend
Dancer-inspired looks are another huge spring fashion trend coming your way. Gen Z has dubbed this look “balletcore.” If this seems a little ambiguous, worry not; InStyle shed some light on this trend. Basically, think feminine looks you’d be able to move elegantly and athletically in. Thin, fitted sweaters, gauzy skirts, oversized sweatshirts with exposed bra straps, leggings with leg warmers, and ballet flats are all great options to achieve this trend.
How To Rock It
Simple, feminine, and athletic looks are incredibly easy to put together for an effortlessly chic look. Bodysuits create a beautiful silhouette and can be paired with virtually anything. Spanx has a great selection with necklines for every taste. My personal favorite place for leggings is Fabletics. Their leggings have a great range of compression to pick from, they come in tons of fun colors and patterns, and they can be worn for exercise or a night out. If you’re looking for the perfect ballet flat, Rothy’s has an incredible selection of colors and styles! They can even be thrown in the washing machine! Lingerie-Inspired Looks
The Trend
The final spring fashion trend that will be turning heads is lingerie-inspired looks. While this trend might not be the one to go all-out with at work, it can definitely be adapted to fit many different areas of your life. Lace detailing, satin fabrics, plunging necklines, and fun cutouts can add a lot of interest to a look. Whether you go all-out on this trend or opt for more subtle boudoir details, this trend is sure to turn heads!
How To Rock It
While I wish I had the confidence to go out in a lace corset, that’s not going to be happening any time soon! Instead, I’m planning on incorporating more demur details into my daily wardrobe. One look that’s super easy (and a great workwear staple!) is a satin blouse. Satin is known for being a more seductive fabric, but these blouses are totally safe for work! They can be paired with pants, skirts, or under blazers. Another easy (and work-appropriate) choice is a satin tank top. These can be layered under a more reserved outer layer for the office, or they can be paired with a pair of jeans or leggings for a night out! Slip dresses are another great option for a night out. Lace is also a popular choice both in the bedroom and outside!
